A new restoration from a new HD transfer of this ambitious 1932 serial based on the novel by James Fenimore Cooper of the French and Indian war in the United States. It is British versus French and Mohican versus Huron, and caught in the turmoil are Colonel Monroe, commander of the doomed Fort William Henry, and his two daughters, Alice and Cora, traveling through perilous territory to reach him. Independent scout and rifleman Hawkeye is caught up in the conflict and at first tries to make peace but then must try to take the side of right.

Played straight and quite dramatic. Stabilized, noise reduced, deflickered and looking sometimes almost as good as new.
