What format are these DVDs in? Zorro's Fighting Legion, Tailspin Tommy in The Great Air Mystery, The Perils of Pauline and The Mystery of the Riverboat are Region 1 (US/Canada) DVDs. All other DVD sets are non-region-specific fully authored (encoded in the same manner as store-bought DVDs) DVD-Rs with visual chapter selection menus and scene selection options within chapters which will play in the vast majority of DVD players. We do not sell DVDs recorded on home DVD recorders or DVDs recorded from videotapes.
What is the difference between serials you sell and anyone else's? Many online vendors, gray market DVD publishers and eBay sellers try to convince you they are offering you a great deal but are actually selling copies of old often second-generation VHS tapes of serials they have recorded on home DVD recorders. Such copies, including those which are advertised as having been processed for dust-removal, can never look any less fuzzy than the VHS sources they came from, are full of audio hiss, and generally a rip-off. Some companies which look legitimate are now actually selling DVD copies of 1980s Republic Home Video VHS releases and charging $29.99 for them (you would do better to look for the originals). The Squadron invests a great deal of time and money obtaining original film prints of serials (sometimes more than one is used in a transfer), having them transferred on million-dollar professional broadcast equipment for the best contrast, sharpness, and stabilization possible, and then restoring picture and sound on these transfers, repairing and reconstructing damaged scenes and removing hiss from audio. Squadron DVDs are made new from scratch, sometimes worked on frame-by-frame or shot-by-shot for months before release, and are NEVER simply copies from VHS or from anyone else's DVDs.
Can I return a DVD set if it doesn't play in my machine? No, except in case of disk errors. DVD-Rs work best on new DVD players and are compatible with almost all existing machines. If both disks in a DVD set you receive do not appear to play correctly in one DVD player, try them in another DVD player and they will very likely work. (And if you are using an ancient DVD player, please consider getting a new one, there are perfectly good Trutech DVD players being sold now at Target stores for $30 which will play Squadron DVDs, Mp3 disks, and all kinds of things!) True disk errors are rare and only if one side of one disk in a set will not play, or plays incompletely, and this disk is clean and free of dust or dirt OR if you see an irregularity (which usually looks somewhat like a water spot) in the colored under-surface of the disk does this indicate you have a disk with a genuine error in it. If you email Prince Barin or better yet make a request with a future order, a replacement for the defective disk will be sent to you free of charge. Do NOT send the entire DVD set back to us if there's a problem with only one disc. Keep your case and the DVD(s) in a set which play OK, and tell us which disk needs to be replaced, and we will send the one you need which you can then replace in your case.
How can you tell if a disk is defective? A defective disk is one which will not play because it has a scratch, blemish on the colored underside, or other visually detectable error. Be sure not to allow disks to get even slightly dusty or dirty or scratched, as this can interfere with playback and cause them to skip. Disks can also get errors in the recording process but these are rarely sent out because the duplication system checks for errors in DVDs and will reject disks which do not record correctly. Obviously, if for some reason you receive the wrong volume of any DVD or CD in your set this will be replaced also.
Can I pay by credit card online, instead of sending a mail-order form and check? Yes, by using PayPal. Use the ADD TO CART links at the bottom of the DVD pages to order as many DVDs as you like at the same time. To sign up for a PayPal account, go to www.paypal.com. If you are not already a member, when you sign up they will put $5 in your account which you may use toward purchases.
How should I order DVDs if I do not live in the USA? E-mail princebarin@serialsquadron.com and ask him what the postage charge will be to your area, then he will instruct you on how to fill out the mail order form or make a PayPal order which will account for it properly.
To whom should I make out my check? Please make your check out to Eric Stedman.
How long will it take till my order arrives? Most orders are shipped within 24 hours of receipt but please "formally" allow 30 days for shipping. Check the status of a preorder or pledge by visiting this page. If you have not received a non-preorder shipment within 30 days, a shipping error may have occurred, so please email us to check and see when and to where it was shipped, and include your shipping address in your email.
How do I check to see if you received my order? Check your PayPal account and the email mailbox that is connected to it to see if you received your receipt. If you did, we've got your order. If you need assistance or additional confirmation, email Prince Barin.
What if my order is incomplete or there's an error in what was shipped? Please don't send email to Dr. Grood about orders. Email Prince Barin who is in charge of customer service and order logging and explain the situation to him. Include your name and address, what you ordered, and the approximate date you ordered it in your email. He'll know what to do. If a replacement disk is needed, you need not return your case, we will replace the defective DVD.
What if I have questions about other things not covered here? Dr. Grood has no personal secretary on Planet Ergro and cannot answer individual questions about rare or lost serials or specific questions about items for sale by mail. If you have a specific question on collecting, rare items, details on content of the Lost Serial Collection, etc., include your telephone number with your question in your mail order and either Dr. Grood or Prince Barin will call you.
Also please note that to get the SUPERMAN and BATMAN collections you must order them from the online links provided, we do not stock or ship these DVDs.
